It's Winter

The realities of winter!!! Last month I composed the monthly newsletter sitting in the warmth of a Sunshine Coast winter, shorts, tee-shirt, flip flops and a balmy 24 degrees. Unfortunately the memory is fast fading as each morning I defrost the car!!

Whilst all the talk is on the declining Auckland market we still seem to be rather buoyant in the Queenstown area with most real estate firms struggling to get listings. There still appears to be a pent up demand for sections and at this stage it appears a waiting game for new developments to come online.

Lenders whilst still actively seeking business are taking a more conservative approach perhaps looking at trends coming out of Australia as part of the royal commission review. We continue to see some tinkering with fixed interest rates mainly in the 12 to 24 month fixed term with lenders all trying to attract new business. Very much a case of lenders running three tiers of interest rates, standard, special and quote. Really a case of if you don’t ask you don’t get so if you have any questions or concerns regarding your interest rates please don’t hesitate to contact either Michelle or myself.

With having a mid winter break I missed the first home round of Skycity Stampede, but since returning have been to games against Swarm and Admirals. Great results; whilst we are in 2nd place on points, we have played 2 fewer games than the current leader Admirals. If we win the two games against Canterbury Red Devils this weekend and Admirals have the bye we would be equal first and an even number of games. At this stage we are heading into the pointy end of the season with everything to play for.

Until next month, wrap up warm.

Cheers

Charlie & Michelle
